Ancient Types in the Bible
1. Ephraim - Israel 10 tribes. King Pekah (son of Remeliah - An apostate church
2. Syria - Heathen Government - King Rezin - Capital is Damascus
3. Judah - 2-tribe Nation - King Ahaz - Son of Jotham - The son of Uzziah
4. Isaiah - Prophet of God during this time. His son was Sheerjasub
House of David
And it was told the House of David saying, Syria is Confederate with Ephraim. And his heart was moved, and the heart of the people, as the trees of the wood are moved with the wind. Isaiah 7:2

Isaiah 7:2) Had Ahaz and the chief men of his realm been true servants of the most high, they would have had no fear of so unnatural alliance as had been formed against them. But repeated transgression had shorn them of strength. Stricken with a nameless dread of the retributive judgment of an offended God, the heart of the King was moved, and the heart of the people, as the trees of the wood are moved with the wind.
Prophets and Kings. p. 305 The times in which Isaiah was to labor was fraught with peculiar peril to the people of God. The prophet was to witness the invasion of Judah by the combined armies of Northern Israel and Syria, he was to behold the Assyrian hosts encamped before the Chief cities of the Kingdom.
Then said the Lord unto Isaiah, go forth now to meet Sheerjasub thy son, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool in the highway of the fuller's field; and say unto him, take heed, and be quiet; fear not, neither be fainthearted for the two tails of these smoking firebrands, for the fierce anger of Rezin with Syria, and the son of Remeliah.
The two heads of these smoking firebrands would have been those participating in ancient biblical times. (The types) The two tails of these smoking firebrands.
Ancient type - Two Heads - Syria & Ephraim confederate against Judah
Modern Anti-type - Two tails - Modern Day Christians (Church) Syria represented by the State
Confederate against Judah (Those who put on the eye salve - Laodicea, SDA's, Davidians, God's latter day True Church, potential 144,000 and those with)
The tail end of this confederacy is to be a church and state liaison formed against the true followers of Jesus Christ. (144,000 and those with, see Revelation Chapter 7)
The smoking firebrands are the church and state "smoking hot" in pursuit of entrapping, and warring and eliminating the true last church of Jesus Christ. This would be a situation where all professed Christianity form and alliance with the government to war against their fellow Christians. God cannot condone such an arrangement.
Smoking - Threat
Flame - Full Warfare
Anciently since these two firebrands were only smoking and not yet erupted into full fledged flame God has given this prophecy to warn the tail-end modern day alliance.

Antitype - Tail-end
Isaiah 7:5-9 The King and his people were afraid. God told them not to fear because this alliance would be broken within 65 years.
